West Midlands Children and Young People's Forum brings together the key strategic leaders for children's services in the West Midlands in a voluntary strategic partnership. The Forum has developed priorities and a work programme as well as a range of specific projects, supported by Improvement and Efficiency West Midlands, to address issues where collaborative working can really make a difference.
In the first two years, it has been able to evidence significant success in children's commissioning and workforce development. Reflecting the national economic climate the primary focus of this year's endeavours will to support localities to secure efficiencies whilst continuing to improve on outcomes for children and young people.
The Forum will:
- Identify key regional priorities as a result of analysis of need and consultation with stakeholders.
- Provide joint strategic leadership on issues that require regional and cross-sector approaches.
- Ensure that regional groups and networks are linked to and support the agreed regional priorities.
- Collectively agree the deployment of regional resources (IEWM funding, field forces and regional agencies) against an agreed set of local, regional and national priorities.
- Commission actions and work to support local developments and improve local working.
- Provide a coordinated regional children's services response to broad regional challenges such as economic development, sustainability and local government.

As well as the work of the Forum the West Midlands Children's Programme are also coordinating a Regional Lead Members Network and leading the National Cross RIEP Children's Services activities.
